FOR THE ANNIVERSARY 

In its 40th year, the INTERNATIONAL HANDEL ACADEMY is embarking on new and unconventional paths in historically informed performance practice and in the training of young musicians.

From September 2025 to March 2026, as part of both an OPERA ACADEMY and ORCHESTRA ACADEMY and under the motto Facciamo un’Opera a new opera will be created together with participants.

The new pasticcio opera Bajazet e Tamerlano will be presented from 27 February to 1 March 2026 in Karlsruhe as part of the International Händel Festival, and additionally in Stuttgart and Ettlingen.

The project Facciamo un’Opera is made possible thanks to support from the Baden Württemberg Foundation, the State of Baden Württemberg, the City of Karlsruhe, and the Händel Society of Karlsruhe.

It is co produced in partnership with Il Gusto Barocco, the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and the Karlsruhe University of Music, with kind support from the Evangelical City Church of Karlsruhe
