Orchestra Academy

For Bajazet e Tamerlano the 2026 Academy aims to form a project orchestra offering young instrumentalists the opportunity to take part in the performance of a newly assembled opera and to further develop their musical skills in the field of historically informed performance practice through close collaboration with the tutors of the HANDEL ACADEMY.

The Orchestra Academy will take place in Karlsruhe from February 22 to 26, 2026. in Karlsruhe statt. Vom From February 27 to March 1, 2026, folgen Three performances of Bajazet e Tamerlano in Ettlingen, Karlsruhe, and Stuttgart.  

For the project orchestra, we are looking for musicians for the following instruments:

• Violin       
• Viola
• Violoncello
• Violone
• Recorder / Oboe
• Lute
• Harpsichord

Interested candidates should please apply by December 31, 2025, via our application portal.The submission of music examples is mandatory.

• A solo work (with both slow and fast movements; basso continuo accompaniment optional)
• A substantial orchestral excerpt

The instructors of the HÄNDEL ACADEMY will decide on admission to the project by January 15, 2025.

For their involvement in the public concert performances all participants of the Handel Academy will receive Konzerten a flat fee of €700

During the Orchestra Academy period, accommodation is offered in Karlsruhe at reduced rates.
